Having Children
If you have thromophilia and want to have a baby go ahead. Remember
you can't take coumadin® while pregnant. Coumadin® can cross the
placenta and the possibility of a birth defect is possible.
To prevent clotting of the umbilical cord, placenta or getting pre-eclampsia;
You can give yourself daily shots of LMWH. LMWH is the standard protocol
for someone with thrombophilia who is pregnant. An OB-GYN that specializes
in high risk pregnancies should work along side with your hematologist to help you have a successful pregnancy.
