Medical ID Jewelry

Many patients with clotting disorders and/or taking anticoagulants wear medical ID jewelry. Such jewelry can literally save your life by informing first responders and medical professionals about your condition in case you are incapacitated or otherwise unable to tell someone that you have a clotting disorder, are taking anticoagulants, have drug or other allergies.

I wear a bracelet stating "Takes coumadin-Factor V Leiden, Factor II, -No vitamin K or Demerol" (I'm allergic to those 2 drugs).

There are other companies that also provide medical ID jewelry, although I do not know if any offer services similar to MedicAlert® - many simply sell ID jewelry with a medical emblem on one side and your personal info on the other. Remember when choosing your style of jewelry, that if it is not visible to the paramedic or ER doc, it may not be seen (and will do you no good).
