My name is Linda Smith and I was diagnosed with factor 5.
Well, I first went into the hospital on Dec. 27th 2005. I was having pain and swelling in my leg and it was realy purple so I had a ultrasound done.
They told me I had a blood clot in my left high thigh so I was put on heparin. I left on the 30th of dec. and was put on fragmin because I can't take comadin
(I'm pregnant).
Well I never went in for any blood draws or nothing to see if my blood stayed in my theraputic range. Around the 22nd of Janurary I was having bad pain
in the back of my knee and I remember I had no blood draws.
So then I had another ultra sound and it turns out that my whole left leg from high thigh to ankle turned into one blood clot.
I was admitted and put on heparin again, but I was in the hospital for 7 days this time and they upped my fragmin doseage. I have to give myself injections
twice a day. I just wanted to write you to tell you my story
